On the 5th, the renowned British art magazine ArtReview unveiled its ‘2024 Power 100’ list. Since 2002, the annual ‘Power 100’ has involved experts from around the globe in an in-depth and comprehensive evaluation to select 100 individuals who have made significant contributions to the global art and cultural scene through their activities and influence.
Art never stopped a war and never got anybody a job. That was never its function. Art cannot change events, but it can change people. It can affect people so that they are changed.
Artist_News Korea’s First-generation Woman Sculptor Kim Yun Shin Is Represented by Kukje Gallery and Lehmann Maupin
Kukje Gallery and Lehmann Maupin announced their co-representation of Korea’s first-generation woman sculptor Kim Yun Shin (b. 1935). Kukje Gallery, committed to introducing Korean artists to a global audience over the past four decades, and Lehmann Maupin, known for showcasing international artists across various locations, will collaborate to present Kim’s practice to the broader art community. This co-representation marks the artist’s first-ever partnership with a commercial gallery.

Artist_Global K-Art The Samsung Foundation of Culture Selected Two Korean Artists as Residents at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris for 2024
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Samsung Foundation of Culture’s residency program at Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, which was suspended for three years, has resumed. The Foundation has selected Minsook Kang and Jeehee Park as resident artists for 2024 at Cité Internationale des Arts. Kang will participate in the foundation’s residency program from March to August 2024, while Park is scheduled to be in residence from September 2024 to February 2025.

On November 21, the Han Nefkens Foundation awarded Eunhee Lee, a Korean experimental video artist and documentary filmmaker, with the Loop Barcelona Video Art Production Grant of USD 15,000, and Alaa Mansour, a Lebanese artist, filmmaker, and archivist, received the Fundació Antoni Tàpies Video Art Production Grant, also valued at USD 15,000.

Museum_Global K-Art What It Means to Have A Curatorship for Korean Art at The Met
The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met), one of the world’s top five museums, has established a dedicated curator position for Korean art. Supported by the Korea Foundation (KF) and the Samsung Cultural Foundation, this marks its first permanent role for a Korean art curator at an overseas art institution. Eleanor Soo-ah Hyun, also known as Hyun Soo-ah in Korea, has been appointed as the first Korean art curator at The Met.
