A solo exhibition by Do Ho Suh, a leading contemporary Korean artist, will be held at Tate Modern in the UK from May 1 to October 26 next year.
Do Ho Suh’s solo exhibition, “The Genesis Exhibition: Do Ho Suh,” is part of Tate Modern’s survey exhibition program, which focuses on a specific artist through research. ‘The Genesis Exhibition’ is named after its sponsor, Hyundai Motor Group’s automotive brand Genesis.
“The Genesis Exhibition: Do Ho Suh” spans three decades of the artist’s work, which asks timely questions about the enigma of home, identity and explores the complex relationship between architecture and the body.
It will feature new and site-specific works, as well as large-scale, house-sized fabric installations, sculptures, videos, and early drawings. The exhibition is co-curated by Nabila Abdel Nabi, Senior Curator, International Art, (Hyundai Tate Research Centre: Transnational) and Dina Akhmadeeva, Assistant Curator, International Art, Tate Modern.
Suh recently made headlines when he installed a work in front of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Asian Art (NMAA) in Washington, D.C., USA. In Korea, he will hold a solo exhibition at the Art Sonje Center in August this year.
