ArtReview, an international contemporary art magazine based in London, reviewed Stranger, a solo exhibition by the Korean artist Yooyun Yang (b. 1985) at Night Gallery in Los Angeles. This exhibition marks the artist’s first solo show in the United States and is scheduled to run through September 9.

Since July, Yooyun Yang has been represented by the Stephen Friedman Gallery in the United Kingdom. The artist creates paintings by layering diluted acrylic on traditional Korean paper (Hanji) to control the intensity of colors. Her works feature photographic compositions and explore the boundary between reality and imagination using recurring motifs such as blinds, curtains, and railings.
