German gallery Meyer Riegger, whose international artists include Miriam Cahn, Horst Antes, Sheila Hicks, Caroline Bachmann, John Miller, and many more, will open its doors in Korea this September following the acquisition of Galerie Efremidis.
Meyer Riegger’s new Seoul branch will be located at 41-19 Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Korea. Meyer Riegger Seoul is the fifth space, joining Berlin, Germany; Karlsruhe, Germany; Basel, Switzerland; and New York, USA. For its inaugural opening, Meyer Riegger will host a solo exhibition by Horst Antes, who has been exhibited in the Cabinet section of Art Basel, Switzerland, starting September 3 during Frieze.
“With this expansion into Korea, we will be strengthening our Asian network and bringing a number of new artists into our programme,” Meyer Riegger said on Instagram. “We have only presented the gallery’s artists through Frieze Seoul, and now with the Seoul branch, we will be able to communicate more easily in Korea,” Meyer Riegger said, adding, “We hope to expand our connections with Asian collectors and artists and expand to a larger gallery in the future.”
