The Galleries Association of Korea has announced the 10 Semi-finalists of 2024 Kiaf HIGHLIGHTS.
The Kiaf HIGHLIGHTS Awards, a platform that showcases the dynamism of contemporary art and drives the discovery of new artists, was first launched in 2023 to great acclaim. This year, under the theme of “New Discoveries & Fresh Encounters,” a jury of five prominent figures in the art world, including professors, independent curators, and curators from art institutions, selected the 10 most promising semi-finalists of the year after an impartial review. The jury selected artists of all ages based on their work, contemporaneity, originality, and strong identity.
The 10 Semi-finalists include Sejun LEE of Space Willing N Dealing (SEOUL), Jiwon CHOI of ThisWeekendRoom (SEOUL), Cheolgyu KANG of Arario Gallery (SEOUL), Jin HAN of Gallery SP (SEOUL), Xi’an KIM of Artside Gallery (SEOUL), Eunjin KIM of KEUMSAN GALLERY (SEOUL), Wonmi SEO of Laheen Gallery (SEOUL), Betty MUFFLER of Jan Murphy Gallery (BRISBANE), Jochen PANKRATH of Bode Galerie (NUREMBERG), and Paige Jiyoung MOON of Steve Turner (LOS ANGELES).
Leading up to the fair’s opening, in-depth interviews with the selected artists will be published on the fair’s social media channels and Kiaf SEOUL 2024 catalog. On the fair’s preview day, a jury of professors, curators, and institutional experts will select and announce three Kiaf HIGHLIGHTS finalists, each to be awarded KRW 10 million.
