The
non-profit art space Mihakgwan is showcasing artist Critical Hit's solo
exhibition “PENINSULA
ELEGY, Requiem” until November 24. Mihakgwan is an art
and cultural space that seeks new interpretations and symbols of life, aiming
to respect cultural and political diversity within visual arts and foster
growth through critical engagement.
This
exhibition, “PENINSULA
ELEGY, Requiem,” is a continuation of Critical Hit's
previous solo exhibition, “PENINSULA ELEGY” (Space Imsi, 2024), and
features a mix of earlier works and new pieces. The artist focuses on the
sorrow experienced by those who continue to mourn in a Korean society that,
rather than fostering collective healing after disasters, often neglects these processes
and obscures truths.

Through
the emotive framework of an "elegy"—a reflection on grief and
remembrance—the exhibition explores the complex sorrow felt by community
members affected by social catastrophes.
In an
era when disasters are easily consumed and distanced as sensational news
headlines or circulating online images, Critical Hit’s work seeks to recapture
fragments of these images and memories.
By
sharing these works and processes with the viewer, the artist proposes to
confront grief as a necessary and natural process for sustaining memory and
memorialization.
