The 7th
Changwon Sculpture Biennale, “slient apple”, in this year will hold exhibitions
from September 27 to November 10 at various locations in Changwon city center,
including Seongsan Art Hall. This Biennale, led by the first-ever female
director, curator Seewon Hyun, will feature 60 teams/70 artists from 16
countries.
It will
explore themes such as the horizontality of contemporary sculpture, women and
labor, the history and transformation of cities, and the movements of
communities from multiple perspectives. Also, it will hold various programs
including symposiums and workshops will bring together domestic and
international artists, researchers, citizens, and audiences during the
exhibition.
Starting
on September 28, the symposium program “Seed and Peel” will be held at the
Small Theater of Seongsan Art Hall. The symposium is scheduled for September 28
from 10 am to 4 pm and on September 29 from 1 pm to 4 pm, with simultaneous
English translation available.
The
symposium “Seed and Peel” is a two-day event consisting of lectures,
discussions, and lecture performance to explore the condensed narrative and
background of this Changwon Sculpture Biennale. Speakers at the symposium
include Soyeon Ahn, Patrick Flores, Dong-Wan Gimm, Gim Jonggil, Seewon Hyun,
Jang Jihan, Ki Hye-kyung, Kim Seong Eun, Lee Sohl, Lim Sejin, Geun-jun Lim, LJ
Sungmin, Carol Yinghua Lu, Park Chunho, Park Seongtae, Yi Mi Young, and Jason

Following
the pre-exhibition programs and the symposium “Seed and Peel,” which will
explore the locality of Changwon and the contemporary discourse on sculpture
over two days, various audience participation workshops and programs will be
held during the exhibition period. These include performance programs titled “Soul
of Earth, Soul of Water,” “Hand-Well-Sculpture, Length Length,” and the tour
program “Good Transportation Day to Changwon.” Detailed program content and
