Esther Schipper Seoul presents a group exhibition “House on Fire” by 7 Korean contemporary artists, through June 22.

The exhibition, curated by artist Jungsik Lee, presents the short story Broken-Nosed Pinocchio’s 30th Christmas by Eunjoo Lee, reimagined through the works by Black Jaguar (b. 1980, Seoul), Haneyl Choi (b. 1991, Seoul), Yeeun Lee (b. 1994, Seoul), Leehaiminsun (b. 1977, Seoul), Chanseok Seo (b. 1983, Seoul), Hyunseon Son (b. 1987, Seoul), and Jung Hwa Yang (b. 1973, Mokpo).

The original text and the exhibition “House on Fire” focuses on the anger and hatred experienced by those who are vulnerable and unprotected. It delves into narratives woven by psychological states such as ‘negative transfers’ and the language of emotions that emerge from repressed memories. These stories are then reimagined and reconstructed through paintings, drawings, photographs, and sculptural works.
