RAINBOWCUBE presents a solo exhibition “A
Spider Trapped in a Butterfly Trapped in a Flower” by Chaeri Kim, on view
through August 4.
"A
Spider Trapped in a Butterfly Trapped in a Flower" is part of RAINBOWCUBE‘s
2024 ‘My Very First Exhibition’ competition program. Launched in 2016 and now
in its eighth year, ‘My Very First Exhibition’ is an exhibition support program
for emerging artists that has supported the first solo exhibitions of 26
artists selected through an open call. This year, 162 artists applied for the
competition, and Chaeri
Kim and Seo Ji-won were selected.
Chaeri Kim, who is
holding her first solo exhibition at RAINBOWCUBE, works in a variety of media,
including two-dimensional sculpture, installation, drawing, and tapestry. Kim
freely arranges a variety of subjective and abstract images using experiences
and emotions from dreams and reality as her subject matter. The images in her
work appear to be irregular, yet they are organically intertwined with the
artist's own subjectivity.
