Museumhead
presents the special exhibition “B/W SIGNALS” on view through October 31. This
exhibition features 10 artists— GWON Doyeon, KEUM Hyewon, KIM Chunsoo, KIM
Taedong, KIM Hyoyeon, NOH Suntag, LEE Hyunmoo, HONG Jiyoung, HONG Jin-hwon, and
HWANG Yezoi—whose works consist of black-and-white photography.
The
exhibition aims to reconsider black-and-white photography as a medium, while
critically reflecting on the function of divided and polarized images in
today’s world. “B/W SIGNALS” diagnoses the 'age of division,' where separation
and hatred are fueled, and questions how images contribute to this current
reality.

The 'black and white' referenced in the exhibition suggests the movement of constantly crossing and navigating the divide between the two. Centered on photography as a medium that exists between objective truth and subjective immersion, between manipulated falsehoods and belief, it perceives images as ‘disguised, mismatched, and questioned.’ Through this lens, black-and-white photographs are presented as expressions of uncertain potential.
