The ‘wandering MAUMS’ series began with an exhibition at Fatory2 in Seoul (2022), then traveled to einBuch.haus in Berlin (2023), and to Kangbuk Samsung Hospital in Korea last October, where it touched the hearts of people who needed care.
Following these past journeys, “Wandering MAUMS: Staying Time” introduces a series of artworks that collect and document the feelings that exist within the artist but are forgotten, hidden, or left unattended.
In this exhibition, Min extends the temporal medium of the book to the exhibition, capturing a moment in the flowing narrative where she wants to stop and allowing each mind to stay fully within the exhibition. For example, the wall painting of shelves, inspired by the ‘Books and Things’, metaphorizes a room of care. This paused scene is a peaceful time when many minds have found rest in the care of others, but not all have found a place. To the stories of the hearts that still wander without names, Min Jung-hwa listens and builds up the muscles of courage like a resolve to continue the arduous and long process of healing.
Jeong-hwa Min is an illustrator who draws and tells stories, working with a variety of materials including painting, picture books, printing, and ceramics.
