Post Territory Ujeongguk presents a solo exhibition “Fragments of Babel” by Yun Park, on view through July 6.
“Fragments of Babel” explores how AI is opening new paradigms in artistic creation in the era of generative AI. This exhibition examines the potential of AI to transcend boundaries through multidimensional transformations: from text to image, from image to 3D, from 3D to physical objects, and from objects back to video.
By exploring the possibilities of conversion across media and fusion across genres, “Fragments of Babel” designs programs and machines that convert text into visual forms and inject data that gives volume and texture to images or graphics, generating new visual outcomes. The artist selects and edits these generated results according to their intention, exploring the characteristics of AI-based creation and presenting the concept of “Multi-Dimensional Art.”
Based in London and Seoul, Yun Park uses AI to translate 2D and 3D images, as well as videos, into physical objects and then reconverts them. By repeating and cycling this process, they explore the boundaries between the material and immaterial. Park graduated from Hongik University with a B.A. in Woodworking and Furniture Design and received an M.A. in Information Experience Design from the Royal College of Art. Park participated in Ars Electronica 2023, a global media art festival, and has participated in the group exhibitions “Beyond a Priori” (Season Gallery, London, 2023) and “Counterpoint” (Iklectik, London, 2023).
