The South Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, in partnership with the Korea Arts and Culture Foundation, is conducting a five-day online education program titled “Starting Arts Contracts Right!” from the 16th to the 20th of this month. This program endeavors to foster a fair contract culture within the arts sector and safeguard artists’ rights. The program offers both basic and advanced courses and encompasses subjects such as foundational insights into art contracts, current contract trends in diverse artistic domains, contract categorizations, and the utilization and drafting of standard contracts.
The program’s curriculum spans five days, beginning with foundational aspects of art contracts on the 16th, followed by art sales contracts on the 17th, music distribution agreements on the 18th, webtoon and web novel serialization contracts on the 19th, and concluding with paper and e-book publishing contracts on the 20th. Each session will be led by legal experts and professionals in their respective fields. These real-time educational sessions will be hosted on Zoom, allowing artists from across the country to participate. While every session is provided at no cost, interested artists and related professionals can register for the event through the Korea Arts and Culture Foundation’s website until 12:00 PM on the 13th.
