Artist Jeisung Oh’s solo exhibition, The Motion Sculpture, focuses more on the ‘process’ of sculpture rather than the result. The exhibition explores the sense of movement in sculpture while encompassing various actions connected to sculptural works.
Jeisung Oh is an artist who investigates the comprehensive relationships between space, time, memory, and the experience of sculpture. In this exhibition, the artist hopes to present sculpture as a performance that briefly exists and disappears. Although sculpture cannot move like performers, Oh contemplates whether seeking, appreciating, and creating sculptures can add a sense of immediacy to the sculptural experience. Furthermore, the artist extends these dynamic elements of sculpture into the virtual world, infusing the continuous movement of the body into the creation and appreciation of sculpture.
Jeisung Oh (b.1987) interprets myths and legends in a contemporary context, creating photographs, videos, and sculptures. Since 2020, he has been capturing data by photographing undesignated cultural assets in various temples, churches, and cathedrals, transforming them into sculptural forms using software. Additionally, the artist utilizes data related to his daily life, spaces, situations, and memories to create narrative-driven videos.
