From this time, I would like to explain how various animals in the work, from the tire mutant series to the recently started New mutant series, are revealed in the author’s work under the theme ‘Story Of Mutant’. This time, as the first, we introduce the Jaguar series, an early works.

Jaguar 3 vs Real Jaguar

< Jaguar 3 > is a work that maximizes the instinct and inner self just before the actual jaguar attacks through a more oblique tail, a lower head, and a distorted leg based on the body parts that were first transformed in < Jaguar 1 > and < Jaguar 2 >.

Jaguar 3, 2008, Used tire, Steel, 290(l) x 81(w) x 122(h) cm, 114(l) x 32(w) x 48(h) in.

< Jaguar 1 > is more like a robot than an actual animal, but in < Jaguar 3 >, it is closer to a real animal and paid attention to more detailed descriptions. By expressing the waist, hips, and feet more realistic, the work has increased the density, shape, and completeness of the work.

In < Jaguar 1 >, the legs were deformed long and thick to emphasize strength, whereas in < Jaguar 2 >, the legs were twisted thin and long to emphasize speed. < Jaguar 3 > developed the mutation of these two works, distorting the legs into a longer and stronger form.

As a result, the real Jaguar’s feet were round and blunt, but the < Jaguar 3> ‘s feet were angular and sharp. The work has grown to reach 3m in size and has become more aggressive.

In contrast to the aggressive form of Jaguar 3, some works have a defensive posture. < Jaguar 6 > embodies the defensive appearance you see when you meet someone stronger than you. In order to express it in a formative manner, the artist rolled up the tail and expressed it in a low posture.

In this way, the Jaguar series shows the shape and technique appropriate for the subject of the work by expanding or reducing the size of each body part in real animals, and transforming it to length. In the next issue, I will introduce the Lion series.
